Informations
WIP is an AmIRC 3.x ARexx script that can be used to show on IRC informations about the audio file being played. It offers many options to define layout of the messages and it's directly compatible with the audio players Amplifier, DeliTracker and SongPlayer. By using external script it can also work with mpega (for mp2/mp3 files) and GMPlay/AMidi (for midi files).
WIP requires rmh.library written by Alfonso Ranieri.
Current version
Current public version is 2.62, released on
21/9/2001.
Here the changes since previous version:
- Support for a list of channel to SKIP while sending the messages.
- Support for AMidi (using an external script that runs the PlayMidi command).
- Many internal improvements to speedup and make more expandable the program.
- Added HippoPlayer support. It doesn't seem to work very well, anyway...
- Improved compatibility with buggy Amplifier ID3 detection routines.
- Added placeholders %1, %2, %3, %4 e %5.
- Removed few little bugs...

Software status
As all my Amiga programs, WIP is a completed project. The current version is released under GPL licence.
After internal beta 2.67 (released only to betatesters) I've worked on version 3 which introduced many new features, for example the support for AmiNetRadio and the total configurability of text and colors of the sent messages. It also offers a lot of external "layouts" (or skins), some of them really weird.
I decided to not release it after having discovered a possible security issue in layout management. The alternatives were to rewrite from scratch that management, loosing performances on Amiga 68k computers, or to expose users to some risks.
